WI Population Change 1970-2000

This map also belonged in the thematic mapping exercise having to do with colors being related to the variable being mapped. In this case that is population density in Wisconsin.

We started with A United States base map. I had to select Wisconsin and export it to just be Wisconsin by itself. The map on top is the main percent change in the state over the thirty years while the other two smaller ones consist of population density in that given year. Colors were given by the website ColorBrewer for a smooth transition of colors that go together well.

As you can see there is a strange immense change in population in Milwaukee county, but it is just that. The city has been growing and people have been moving away from the area into more suburban areas over these 30 years in particular.

The math and legends were done by hand and in Adobe Illustrator.
