Going to the Sun Road (NLCD)

This map was part of the National Land Cover Data exercise where certain land values were classified into colors for what they are on the surface. This was one of my favorite maps to create.

The map layers consist of a DEM, Going to the Sun Road line, NLCD layer, and Glacier National Park region. The DEM was the first thing I started on making a hillshade and giving it the 3-dimensional look. The NLCD layer had to be looked at and have the colors adjusted to the NLCD 2001 at the time. The NLCD layer I had transparent to give it the 3-d look on top of the hillshade. I then had to search for the famous mountain tops in the area and give them elevation markers, but those along with labeling were all done in Adobe Illustrator.
