This map was created through a school exercise on text lettering and labeling. How text looks on a map is very important because it is a way of communicating to the viewer what is being seen.
We were given a set of seven base layers, or shapefiles: cities, graticule, nations, coastline, and three different levels of bathymetry at 0m, 200m, and 1000.
All base map work was done in ArcGIS. The lettering and labeling was all done through Adobe Illustrator.
